New Port of Centralia commissioner Dan Keahey began his tenure at the regular port meeting held Jan. 6. Keahey, a local real estate agent and Centralia native, is a former Centralia city councilor. He was elected to fill the District 1 commissioner position at the port in November.
At the Jan. 6 meeting, Port of Centralia officials announced the approval of a five-year lease to Quick Quotes, Inc. The company specializes in scrapbooking supplies and materials.
Port Executive Director Kyle Heaton said Quick Quotes will occupy the 13,000 square foot port building at 3713 North Park Drive. He explained that the company is consolidating their existing local area offices at the new port location.
Heaton also reported that renovations are finished in the building at 3717 Galvin Road that Sayler Custom Controls is leasing. He said the company plans to move in soon.
In other business at the Jan. 6 meeting, commissioners approved RSM McGladrey for port accounting services during 2010.
Port commissioners also conducted their annual meeting of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) of the port. The IDC is the issuing authority for industrial development revenue bonds, which are low-interest bonds that can be used for acquisition, enlarging or improving industrial development facilities by prospective Port customers.
The IDC commissioners passed a resolution electing officers for 2010. They include Gene Groshong as president, Art Lehman as vice president and Dan Keahey as secrectary.
